Imagine Boston 2030 Metrics Dashboard

Imagine Boston 2030 Metrics Dashboard

Imagine Boston 2030 is a multi-year initiative that will engage the public in creating a framework to guide the preservation, enhancement, and inclusive growth of our city between now and 2030. This citywide plan will promote quality of life in accessible neighborhoods, inclusive economic growth, a healthy environment and investment in infrastructure, open space and culture. See the Imagine Boston 2030 Goals for further information.

The metrics dashboard features 14 metrics that will be evaluated on a yearly basis to measure and track the City’s overall progress towards achieving the plan’s goals. The metrics reflect Boston’s data driven approach to guiding long-term growth to boost quality of life, equity and resilience in every neighborhood across Boston. The dashboard allows users to interact with data available on historic trends, current benchmarks and how we will achieve the goals laid out in the plan.

The 14 established metrics are reflective of the five overarching goals established by residents through the Imagine Boston 2030 engagement process. More than 15,000 residents contributed to inform the following goals: (1) encourage affordability, reduce displacement, and improve quality of life, (2) increase access to opportunity, (3) drive inclusive economic growth, (4) promote a healthy environment and prepare for climate change, and (5) invest in open space, arts & culture, transportation, and infrastructure. The metrics track progress in the following areas: housing cost burden, premature mortality, walkability, safety, wealth gap disparity, childhood poverty, education, job creation, energy emissions, climate change, parks quality, commute modes, and arts and culture.

The data included in this dashboard includes a mix of City, State, and Federal, and private-sector datasets. Specific sources are listed alongside their respective analyses. Some of the City data referenced in this dashboard is not yet available on Analyze Boston but will be added in the future. We will update this page as more of the included data is made available on this site.
